Thunderstorm fails to dampen spirits at Bears' Picnic (May 2005)

Big Ted and friends enjoying the Teddy Bears' Picnic Show Spirits were not dampened at the Teddy Bears' Picnic on Bank Holiday Monday, despite the torrential downpour and thunder and lightning which hit us at lunchtime. Plenty of youngsters brought their furry friends along with them and joined in with the face-painting, giant inflatable Jack in the Box bouncy castle, tombola stand and of course, the Teddy Bears' Picnic Show, with popular children's entertainers, Beverley and John, of the Fun Factory.

Rain holds off for VE Day Celebrations (May 2005)

Our cafe turned Soup Kitchen for the day The rain held off for our VE Day Street Party Celebration on Sunday 8 May, to mark the end of the Second World War in Europe. Dozens of visitors took part in the festivities including several war veterans and elderly people who had attended the original celebrations in 1945. We would like to thank Battle Town Band, who played a 2 hour session of music from the era and all our staff who dressed up in 1940s costumes for the day.
