Playroom |
Hundreds of Victorian children's toys can be seen in the day room and playroom. Nanny would keep the children seen and not heard with toys such as dolls houses, writing slates and picture scrapbooks. |
Children's Bedroom |
Examples of children's cradles and nightwear are on display. Miniature domestic items, such as cooking ranges, were used to teach girls their vocation in Victorian society. Soft furnishings for dolls houses would be made so that children could practice their needle work.

Maid's Room |
The maid is preparing for bed. After curling her hair she checks
the baby is sleeping soundly. In the Victorian period, children were often not looked after by their parents, but by a maid or nanny.
