Yesterday's World has two general stores. One from the late 19th
century which exhibits life before pre-packaging. Fresh sawdust would be put down on the floor every morning and swept up each evening. The second general store is a 1930s grocers and you can recognize many brand names such as Oxo, Birds and Chivers. Also on display is the 'rapid wire' where the grocer would attach the bill to an overhead wire which would pass to the assistant who would act as the cashier. |
